Travelers to Socotra must understand that Socotra is an eco-tourism system protected by UNESCO and fairly new to the international tourist market. Hence the Socotra hotel accommodation standard, though good, may not be up to the same international standards that one would expect in a more developed atmosphere. We believe that this only adds to the appeal of a visit to the island of Socotra.

You can choose from hotels in Hadibo, an eco-lodge situated in the outskirts of the capital town, six eco-campsites in various locations around the island, and camping in the wild.

There are few hotels available in Hadibo, all of them located around the main 20 Street, which is the only asphalt road in the town

Summer Land Hotel

One of the oldest hotel in Hadibo, it is located off 20 Street on its eastern end, very close to public Internet Café and the main mosque. A restaurant run by a Philippine cook is a part of the complex where international cuisine is served. The hotel also has its own diving center.

Taj Socotra Hotel

another popular hotel located on a quiet western end of 20 Street. There is a restaurant on the ground floor with tables scattered outside in a large area surrounded by palm leaf fence where you can enjoy more privacy while tasting local fish, seafood or goat meet.

Services: rooms with AC, TV and a fridge, all rooms with private bathrooms, laundry, generator for undisturbed electricity supply. Breakfast is not included but can be served in the restaurant downstairs.

Eco-lodge

An eco-lodge run by Adib’s family is located on a beach just outside Hadibo.

The fresh breeze from the sea wins the place extra points in comparison to sultry hotels of Hadibo. The premises offer accommodation in woven huts and two shaded resting areas where food from an eco-lodge restaurant is served. A beach shower is available for those who will enjoy swimming.

Services: woven huts with mattresses or beds protected by light mosquito nets, capacity of the eco-lodge is 15 people. Shared bathrooms, huts lighted by lamps, charging batteries possible. Breakfast is included and served by the eco-lodge restaurant.

Heathrow Hotel

Originally built to accommodate doctors from the field hospital, then turned into a hotel, it has the largest number of rooms on the island, all rooms air-conditioned with private toilets and showers, located 20 mins from Hadibo.

Eco-campsites

There are six eco-campsites to stay overnight when outside of Hadibo: Amak, Dihamri, Ditwah, Homhil, Rosh, Skand. They are run by local communities who generate income by providing eco-tourism services for their own development.

Enjoy a tropical paradise resting from a palm leaf shelter.

• Dihamri: located on the shore of the marine protected area devoted to coral reef that starts very close to the beach so it’s the ideal place for snorkelers. Excellent diving spots are not far in the sea.
  

• Ditwah: located overseeing the most romantic spot (lagoon) in the island. You can enjoy the sandy tongue of Ditwah bay, sunbathe and play in the sand dunes. From neighboring Qalansiya beach, you can take a dolphin spotting boat trip to Shouab.
  

• Homhil: located up in the magic land of dragon blood trees and bottle trees. There are walking trails in the unique landscape. Even though you cannot expect fresh fish for lunch or dinner the hospitality is great and you will love the place.
  

• Rosh: belonging to the marine protected area located about 1 km off shore. Snorkelers and divers can rent a boat to get to the coral reef. Hoq cave can be visited up in the rocks. The beach is full of dead coral shards.
  

• Skand: located at the foot of Jebel Skand to which it still takes a couple of hours hike. The view is breathtaking.
